In the early days, we wanted to adhere to design best-practices as prescribed by Apple and Google. Screen sizes were smaller, and many of the gesture interactions like swiping were not en vogue at the time. With an eye toward the future, we tried to add a bit of fun to the experience, with large icons, oversized text, and bold color combinations. The BigTime logo served as a solid foundation upon which to build the icon design. Again, simplicity makes the icon stand out against the visual noise in the background.
